Plants: Panicle Hydrangea
Hydrangea paniculata, commonly referred to as 'Panicle Hydrangea' for their cone-shaped flower heads, are one of the largest and most cold-tolerant hydrangeas available.
Pancile hydrangeas are sometimes erroneously referred to as 'PeeGee' hydrangeas because of the popularity of the Hydrangea paniculata Grandiflora cultivar (hence the name "PG" hydrangea).
Panicle hydrangea are known for their cold hardiness, and white, pale-green, to pink flower heads. They are a late summer bloomer, and make great flowering shrub for attracting pollinators late into the season.
Hydrangea paniculata is one of the only hydrangeas today that can be pruned into a tree or 'standard' form, and if you are in search of a small flowering tree, Hydrangea Paniculata may be just what you are looking for!
