Bagged Bark Mulch
Mulch is a security blanket for all plants. In the winter it will insulate the roots and provide adequate moisture during the summertime heat. Organic mulch will supply nutrients and condition the soil. Depending on the kind of mulch, you will minimize the amount of weeds that can develop in the garden. Above all, if attractive, it will create a more esthetic look to the landscape. It is the frame around the landscape portrait.
All of the bagged mulches, except for the nuggets and mini nuggets are also available by the cubic yard. If you are looking for smaller quantities than a cubic yard the bagged mulch will definitely make it easier for you to handle. If you find yourself looking to blend with the bulk product the manufacturer is the same and so the colors and consistency should match.

The raw materials used in the colorants are from resources occurring naturally in the earth's surface. The colorants are specially formulated to be nontoxic to plants and animals. While we make every effort to get the color-enhanced products to set up prior to shipping, it is nearly impossible for the colorant to fully cure while in this pile. Therefore, we recommend that color-enhanced mulches not be spread before or during heavy rains.
No Recycled products are used in the manufacturing of any of our bulk mulches.
Coast of Maine Bagged Mulches
Dark Harbor Blend
Dark Harbor Blend is an exceptionally rich, fine-textured blend of naturally composted barks, ideal for mulching beds, borders and gardens and for use around shrubs and trees. It will help retain moisture without robbing your soil of nitrogen and help insulate the surface soil against excessive cold and heat that can otherwise damage plant root systems. |

Fundy Blend Enriching Mulch with Seaweed Fundy Blend is the ideal top-dressing for roses and perennials. We combine some of our limited supply of very old, humified birch and maple bark with partially humified hemlock bark and a very rich compost made of kelp solids and sphagnum moss peat. The result is an almost black humus that is rich in organic matter with all the added benefits of both compost and kelp. Fundy Blend will both enrich your soil and help retain moisture. It will also help insulate the surface soil against both excessive cold and heat that can otherwise damage plant root systems. |

Traditional Bark Mulch Coast of Maine offers a complete line of 2 and 3 cubic foot traditional bark mulches - Hemlock, Pine & Spruce, Natural Cedar and Red Cedar. These are all double ground, fine-textured fresh bark mulches designed for consistent quality. Their Red Cedar and Hemlock mulches are enhanced with a small quantity of iron oxide tint, a safe, natural material that will not stain or wash off. Otherwise, no tints or colorants are used to enhance the natural beauty of either our Natural Cedar and Pine and Spruce. |

Naturally Dark Mulches Coast of Maine offers two naturally dark bark mulches. Both have been allowed to age for several years, thereby darkening to a rich chocolate brown. As they have achieved this color naturally, these mulches will not fade in the sun or over time. Please note that these older mulches have also begun to break down, thus tend to have a higher bulk density, a finer texture and are thus heavier. |
